Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in association with visiting Professor Dr. Sanjeeva Gupta,an expert pain physician, from UK, is organizing a symposium on “Recent advances in Low Back Pain”

According to the Global Burden of Disease study (2016), low back pain (LBP) is ranked among five leading causes of years lived with disability (YLDs). In the course of development from a developing country to an industrialized society and adaptation to westernized life style, back and neck pain have become second leading cause of disability in India after iron deficiency anaemia.

Progression of LBP to chronic LBP is very much preventable provided appropriate education and awareness is attained. Also, in majority of the cases, LBP can be managed through simple measures such as simple exercises, on-site ergonomic modification measures along with lifestyle changes.

In view of this, the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, PGIMER, Chandigarh is organizing an symposium on“Recent advances in Low Back Pain” in collaboration with Visiting Professor,Dr Sanjeeva Gupta(Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia, Bradford Hospital NHS Trust, Bradford, UK).
