Govt employees of Haryana unhappy with BJP : Kumari Selja

Chandigarh Oct 19, 2019 Haryana has witnessed numerous demonstrations in the last five years. This was probably the period of most number of protests in the government of any state. Whereas in the 2014 elections, Haryana government employees strongly supported the BJP. But this time, out of total 1.18 crore voters in the state, around 4.5 lakh government employees are going to play an important role.

Congress leader Kumari Selja says that state government employees are now looking at Congress. If her party comes into power, we will ensure that government employees get their due. “In our resolution letter, we have already assured the employees that the jobs of contract based guest teachers, computer operators and lab attendants will be confirmed. We have promised to remove the contract system in all government departments. Our party has also promised to provide equal pay and allowances to all the employees just like the Punjab employees. There is also a promise to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission from January 1, 2016. It also includes raising the retirement age to 58 to 60 years like central employees.”

It is noteworthy that so far more than 10 lakh calls have been received on the free calling number 93553-33011, associated with the Congress resolution letter. A total of 1,45,693 lakh people have contacted for information related to government employees only.

The political equations have changed in the state, in such a situation, if these employees decide to teach BJP a lesson, then Congress may have an upper hand. The state has elections for 90 assembly seats on October 21, while the counting will be done on 24 October.

Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee spokesman Pawan Kheda issued a statement today saying that in the last five years, the Khattar government has broken all records of scams. Bus Tender Scam, Post Metric Scholarship Scam, Recruitment Scam, Camera Scam, Tiles Scam, Mining Scam, Electricity Meter Purchase Scam, Overloading Scam, GST Scam, Drug Scam, Galvanum Sheet Scam, Patanjali Land Scam etc. were already there, and now a new land scam has surfaced.

He said that on January 4, 2019, a 4000 square meter plot had been exchanged in Sector 30, Gurugram in the name of BJP by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, for which no advertisement was issued. The plot was given to BJP in 2016 in lieu of the allotted institutional plot in Sector 41, Gurugram. Total value of the plot allotted at sector 41 was Rs 10 crore 20 lakh. But keeping all the rules in mind, Chief Minister Khattar gave permission to change the commercial site in Sector 30 by his signature, which is estimated to be around Rs 72 crore.

According to the law, prior approval is required for the transfer of the plot, as shown by DC Gurugram's own recommendation as well. According to the rules of transfer of plot by HUDA (HSVP), dated 18.2.2013, the category of the plot cannot be changed under any circumstances, as has happened in this case.

More than 150 Robotic Surgeries confirm better success rate for Urological procedures: Dr. Manish Ahuja

Chandigarh, October 19, 2019: Doctors at Fortis Hospital, Mohali claimed that robotic surgeries has a better success rate when it comes to urological procedures. This revelation was based on more than 150 such robotic assisted surgeries performed successfully at the hospital. This was shared by Dr Manish Ahuja, Consultant, Urology, Fortis Hospital, Mohali

The use of robotic surgeries has been successful in bringing precision in surgeries. This helped to treat cases with complications as a 3D camera gave the surgeon more depth into the operable area. It also brought down time to recover as the blood loss during surgery is now reduced substantially. For complex prostate and kidney surgeries, the robotic assisted surgeries brought precision which helped improve the success rate than a traditional or even a key hole surgery. The camera also magnifies the view, thus, enabling the surgeon to work in complex areas with a far greater accuracy.

“This has enabled certain complex surgeries to be performed in the most effective, safe and precise way. Traditionally, the only way to do these operations was the open method. This entailed a big incision on the patient, post-operative pain requiring immobilization, and loss of time from work in addition to a big scar,” said Dr Manish Ahuja while speaking at a press conference here today.

The surgical robot improved upon these deficiencies. This method of surgery involves the use of certain special robotic instruments which are controlled by the surgeon using a computerized console. The robotic instruments are placed using very small keyhole cuts. A 3D camera is placed in the area to be operated. This gives the surgeon view of the third dimension – the depth. The use of robot also eliminates the human ‘tremor’ effect in surgeries with more accurate dissection and suturing resulting better surgical outcomes with less complications.

Dr Manish Ahuja shared the case of his patient Mr Bhupinder Singh67 years’ man from Bathinda, with the media. Dr Ahuja said, “When the patient came to us, he was already diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was in early stage and we planned for a robot assisted radical prostatectomy. The complex surgery was successfully completed. The pathological analysis of the removed prostate gland showed that the margins were clear. The prostate cancer was completely eliminated from the patient. He was released after 4 days of surgery.”
Sharing another case of 68-year-old Mr Onkar Singh from HoshiarpurDr Ahuja said, “The patient was earlier diagnosed with prostate cancer. But since he underwent a transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) procedure before cancer was detected, it was a challenge to do another surgery at the same spot because of adhesions and bleeding. We planned a robotic surgery which gave us very good result with minimal blood loss. Post-surgery pathological analysis showed that cancer has completely been removed from body. He was discharged on 4th day after surgery in satisfactory condition.”

55-year-old Mrs. Surinder Kaur from Kharar underwent ultrasound for vague abdominal pain which picked up the presence of a left kidney tumour. Further tests showed this to be a cancerous growth of 5 cm size which was a Stage 1 tumour. She underwent Robot Assisted Partial Nephrectomy last month. Blood loss was minimal. Her recovery was quick and she was discharged on 4th day after surgery. The cancer bearing part of kidney was removed with great precision using robotic instruments. The pathological analysis of the tumour suggested that it had been completely cleared from the body.
Md Saifullah from Fatehgarh Sahib, a 42-year-old man had kidney stones last year which slipped down into ureter and caused blockage. This required two surgeries to clear up the blockage. But due to the stone induced damage, the ureter became narrow – developed a condition called stricture. He underwent robot assisted uretero-ureterostomy successfully 2 months back and is now completely pain free and stent free.

First Friday Forum Launches a Memoir on Guru Nanak Dev

Region’s one of the most active forums, First Friday Forum celebrated its twenty years of existence in the fond memory of Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th Birth Anniversary at Government Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10-C, Chandigarh.
The celebration witnessed a historic launch of the book, ‘Guru Nanak Dev – Dispenser of Love and Light’ written by Dr SS Bhatti, Former Principal, Chandigarh College of Architecture and Founder, First Friday Forum. The book published by White Falcon Publishing, was launched by Er Gurpreet Singh, President, Institute of Sikh Studies (IOSS), Chandigarh, in the presence of Prof. Hardev Singh Virk, Eminent Scientist & Celebrity Sikh Scholar.
“I would like to thank Dr SS Bhatti and Prof HS Virk for having given me the honour to be the Chief Guest at the release of the book titled ‘Guru Nanak Dev - Dispenser of Love and Light’. This to have happened at the time when we are celebrating the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak is highly commendable, but one could not have expected anything less from Dr Bhatti,” stated Mr Singh.

Prof. Virk further reviewed the book’s content. “This volume is a welcome addition to the Sikh literature produced during 550th anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev. Dr Bhatti has tried to interpret revelation of Guru Nanak in the modern scientific context which is truly relevant and engaging,” he said.
“Guru Nanak Dev founded a new theology that Lord God had revealed to him with instruction to spread its message far and wide. It is Revealed religion, not a rehashing of Vedic philosophy and Islamic doctrine as most scholars erroneously believe and propagate,” shared Dr Bhatti while providing an insight into his opinion on revelation, mysticism and creativity that are evident in his book.
“Since the word ‘religion’ has earned widespread revulsion and hatred because priests had for centuries been misusing power in connivance with the ruling class to exploit the masses, I have coined the term “Creative Mysticism” as a substitute, especially for the study and exposition of the tenets of the Sikh Faith, and you can find more about it in my book,” Dr Bhatti further added.
The book launch came to a close in high zeal and verve; marking the twenty years of excellent service provided by First Friday Forum that has held over 238 impactful talks by experts on diverse subjects in its Monthly Interaction Programme.
