Microsoft Highlights Ecosystem Growth and Innovation at Computex 2017 with Windows 10 Devices

Today at Computex 2017, Microsoftunderscored its commitment to the partner ecosystemwithnew opportunities to drive growth and customer demand. Microsoft outlined key areas of focus to inspire customers,increase momentum in the PC market with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, and sparkemerging categories includingWindows Mixed Reality and Windows and Azure solutions for theInternet of Things.
Nick Parker, corporate vice president, consumer and devicesales, shared his vision for how new business models scale and expand markets to create a thriving ecosystem. This vision starts by inspiring customers with new experiences and devices that empower people and businesses to achieve more.

Parker was joined on stage by Matt Barlow, corporate vice president, Windows marketing, andPeter Han, vice president, partner devices and solutions, detailing the latest innovation from Windows 10 with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and the breadth of devices that enable new Windows 10 experiences.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and devices that light up new experiences:

Barlow highlighted innovations coming in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, announced over the last month. This includes innovations coming to Windows Ink, 3D, Windows Mixed Reality, security and gaming. Han highlighted a diverse mix of Windows 10 devices that take advantage of new capabilities such asenhanced inking, built-in game broadcasting, and advanced security all captured in beautiful hardware designs. Also showcased were the latest collections in consumer, gaming, education and commercial devices from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Panasonic, Samsung and Toshiba. Peter Han also introduced a new operational capability that enables partners to dynamically include Windows Store content to any Windows 10PC they ship at any time in the manufacturing and resale process, introducing new supply chain agility for the PC ecosystem.

New categories and new opportunities:

In addition to modern devices from leading partners, Han shared news and momentum in new categories including:

·         Mixed reality:Microsoft showcased new, innovativeWindows Mixed Reality headset designs from partners like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Available later this year, these affordable headsets will utilize the Windows Mixed Reality platform to enable new video, entertainment, social and productivityexperiences.

·         Internet of things:Microsoft views IoT end-to-end systems as an opportunity for traditional businesses to enter new markets and adopt new business models leading to new revenue opportunities. Today, Microsoft detailedIoT solutions and customer success stories for the energy, manufacturing and retail sectors.

·         Always connected PCs:There are users that need to be connected to the cloud at all times, leveraging the latest network technology like gigabit LTE and eSIM.Microsoft iscollaborating with its ecosystem on a shared vision that starts with a close partnership at the silicon layer with Intel and Qualcomm, and with its mobile operator partners to provide seamless eSIM connectivity. Microsoft device partners including ASUS, HP, Huawei, Lenovo, VAIO, and Xiaomi, are committed to this new category of Always Connected PCs usingeSIM technology. In addition, Microsoft announced Always Connected devices will be coming from ASUS, HP and Lenovo, on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. “I have named the range Dancing Baskets & Birds of Paradise’. The reason for this is that the collection’s inspiration has been motifs on dresses showing beautiful flower baskets as well as birds. I have weaved such patterns as themes and these present different shades & hues of flower baskets & birds. The work is intricate & the handicraft has been done using techniques like sequence, rich zardozi, pearls, glass tubes, dabka et al.” Said Rupam K Grewal.


The designer has experimented with both fabrics & colours.  Rich velvets, organza, Banarasi georgettes, summer silk, embroidered silk have been used to make the breathtaking designer wear. Unique colours like tissue colours, soft pastels, Punjabi couture festive shades are the mainstay of the collection.

The hip, stylish & high end collection was presented by models in five rounds. The first round showed semi-formal attires. This was followed by the the second round that showcase trendy Jacket style clothing. The third round presented exquisite gowns. The fourth was all about the Jaamavar Minx signature ladies suits with Salwar and Ghagra. The fifth round saw models cat-walking wearing a rich bridal range which included all kind of latest styles.

The dress styles that were displayed in the Fashion Show included -- shirts with ankle pants, cape style shirts, front open with skirts, traditional Jaamwar Minx suits, wedding lehengas and flowing gowns. All in all it was an evening of panache in which Jaamawar Minx’s latest & awe inspiring collection was launched.

Bayer CropScience Limited sustained growth in Indian domestic market

Chandigarh, May 25, 2017: Bayer CropScience Limited (BSE: 506285) announced its audited results for the financial year (FY) ending March 31, 2017. The Company registered Revenue from Operations of Rs. 29,484million for FY 2016-17, marking an increase of 2% from Rs. 28,894 million in the previous year. The Company reported Profit for the year of Rs. 2,910 million. The financial statements are prepared in accordance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS).

“2016-17 has been a mixed year for Bayer CropScience Limited in terms of business performance. Our domestic sales grew 8% over last year, due to good growth in our herbicides and fungicides portfolio. But, our exports turnover was adversely affected due to reduced global demand. Good commodity prices of vegetables provided a strong impetus to farmers to invest further on crop protection products. This led to an exceptional growth in our portfolio of vegetables. Our new product launches in 2016 – Luna® Experience for grapes and Movento® Energy for vegetables, was well received by our growers,” said Richard van der Merwe, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Bayer CropScience Limited.

For the quarter ended March 31, 2017, the Company registered Revenue from Operations of Rs. 2,380 million as compared to Rs. 4,677 million in the corresponding quarter of 2015-16. Loss for the quarter stood at Rs. 361 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2017 as compared to Profit for the quarter of Rs. 194 million posted in the corresponding quarter of 2015-16.

Commenting on the fourth quarter results and the outlook for FY 2017-18, Mr. van der Merwe said, “Our Q4 results were impacted due to a poor northeast monsoon in the Southern states of India, which resulted in low water levels in reservoirs. This led to poor investment in crops like rice and vegetables in Southern India, which contribute to nearly 65% of our Q4 sales. However, provided a good monsoon, we see high growth prospects for Bayer CropScience Limited in FY 2017-18. We also plan to launch, new crop protection products in the second half of 2017, subject to regulatory approvals.”

The Board of Directors have recommended a dividend payment of Rs. 17/- per equity share of Rs.10/- each for the financial year ended March 31, 2017, subject to shareholders’ approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.

IFFCO and Bank of Baroda launches co-branded debit card for farmers

The newly launched cards were distributed to 51 farmers in a card distribution ceremony today& further to 2 lakh farmers.
IFFCO, the world’s largest fertiliser cooperative, in collaboration with Bank of Baroda launched its co-branded debit cardfor farmers at a card distribution ceremony organized at their corporate office in New Delhi. IFFCO and Bank of Baroda had signed an MoU in February, 2017 to create co-branded debit cards for farmers. This is aimedat enabling them to buy agri-inputs through a convenient cashless transaction mechanism, thus providing further thrust to PM Narendra Modi’s Digital India programme. The IFFCO-BOB co-branded debit cards were distributed to 51 farmers from Meerut district by Mr. R.P Singh, Director (HR &Legal), IFFCO and Mr. P.S. Jayakumar, Managing Director, Bank of Baroda at the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. R.P Singh urged the farmers to sign up for this card to avail the benefit of 30 days interest free purchases and also to adopt cashless transactions in an increasingly digitised world. He said that farmers can conveniently buy high quality bio-fertilsers, water soluble fertilisers, agrochemicals, micro-nutrients, seeds and other agri-inputs through this card at the right cost.
Mr. P.S. Jayakumar, Managing Director, Bank of Baroda also addressed the gathering and assured the farmers of extending every possible assistance in helping them to understand the various cashless payment mechanisms.
Any farmer who has been making purchases from IFFCO’s farmer service centres, cooperatives, E-bazar stores, IFFDC outletscan sign-up for this card after receiving their respective permission.  Under this scheme, a bank account with Bank of Baroda would be opened at the respective store after the farmer deposits Rs.100 and provides his Aadhar card. The farmer will then be issued a co-branded debit card which can be used to make agri-input purchases of upto Rs.2500/- without making any interest payments for a month.Two lakh co-branded debit cards will be issued initially to the farmers in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Subsequently, more cards will be issued across rest of India. These co-branded debit cards will be exclusively used for the purchase of IFFCO products only.
Following are some salient features of this card:
1)    The farmer can make agri-input purchases of upto Rs.2500/- and can avail 30 days interest free period i.e. if the farmer pays the dues before 30 days from the date of purchase then no interest would be charged. He would then be eligible to make fresh agri-input purchases of upto Rs.2500/- again.
2)    Interest at the rate of 8.60 percent would be charged on the outstanding amount if the farmer does notmake the due payment within 30 days
3)    Farmer would also be eligible for the accident insurance if he makes agri-input purchases using this card
4)    It can also be used in any ATM to widraw money

Chandigarh, May 25:  India's renowned pediatric neurologist, Prof Dr Pratibha Singhi, Director Pediatric Neurology and Neuro-Development at Medanta said that there are large number of children suffering from neuro dysfunctions like epilepsy or stunted growth due to rampant insanitation and unhygienic food being consumed. 

Dr Singhi who earlier headed the PGI's Advanced Pediatric Centre as Chief Pediatric Neurology and Neuro-development said that every year over a 100 cases of neuro dysfunction used to come in PGI, and all over the country there are cases of seizeur, epilepsy all sections of the society are effected since the raw food is major culprit of spreading the worm that hatches in the child's intestines and reaches the brain to impact neuro-functions. 

Seizures, lethargy, vomitting, and slow mental development are some of the common signs which parents must keep a watch on since early detection and early intervention are invaluable for treating the children effectively, she said. 

Genetics, she said, is the latest development in treating neuro metablic disorder which helps us in providing tailor-made treatmenet specific to the child's needs, Dr Singi said. 

Dr Singhi was on a visit to Omni Clinics and Hospital in the city to conduct Medanta's OPD for infants suffering from the disease.
