Chandigarh, 7 September 2023. The State Award 2022-23 for the Best Teacher was conferred to Ms Monika Chawla, Principal of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School Sector 44, by the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.
Ms Monika Chawla has been serving as the Principal of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh since 2009. She holds a gold medal in M Sc Botany from Punjab University and has been the District Training Coordinator for CBSE’s Center of Excellence. She was also honoured with the CBSE Samman in 2020-21 for her excellent leadership skills in running the school. She has been a valuable resource person for CBSE capacity building training for teachers and principals from India and abroad. She conducted more than 310 sessions on more than 100 subjects during the Corana Pandemic to ensure the continuity of learning. Ms. Monika Chawla has also collaborated with some Government schools to enhance the academic and non-academic performance of the students. She has been chosen by CBSE as a resource person for practical training and educational leadership training for Principals across the nation. She is always dedicated to introducing innovative methods in education. She created many inventive games for different subjects and grades. She also mentored the teachers of Chandigarh to establish educational toy libraries in schools under the auspices of CCPCR.Ms Monika Chawla attributed her success to the guidance of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Director, Mr. Rupinder Grewal, Founder Mrs. Harjinder Grewal, Management Members Sukhdeep Grewal and Paramdeep Grewal who supported her in receiving this prestigious state award. She also thanked all her staff members for their cooperation.
