The brainchild behind this tournament was a former caddy Mr Surjit Mandal , who started his golf career making others play and took his passion for the sport to the next level. Hosting an event for the young children he teaches & organises tournaments at the Chandigarh Golf Club.
Having established himself as a teacher, he decided to provide a competitive ground where his students could hone their skills. With guidance and mentoring from Capt. Mohanbir Singh, he laid the foundation for the first tournament organised by him. He received encouragement from the management of the Chandigarh Golf Club and in particular, the current President, Col HS Chahal along with Mr Biru Sibia ( Captain ) & Capt. Mohanbir Singh ( Honorary Secretay) who has helped him in establishing himself in the promotion of the game of golf.
