Chandigarh, 21st September 2023, Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson of Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) along with the team of the Commission and representatives from the Traffic Police and State Transport Authority (STA) made an inspection visit at St. Anne's Convent School, Sector-32, Chandigarh and PML S.D Public School, Sector-32, Chandigarh to check the necessary measures for, ensuring safety and security of the students.
During the inspection the team found lack of cleanliness in both the Junior Wing & Senior Wing premises of St. Anne's Convent School while checking of school buses at PML S.D Public School, one bus (CH01TB9033) was challaned due to presence of discrepancies. Further, in both the above-mentioned schools, there were no proper arrangements for the segregation of garbage and even no sanitary vending machines were installed for the menstrual hygiene of girl students. The team inspected the school premises and check the requirements like CCTC cameras, class rooms, etc. They also interacted with the students. They told the school authorities to display Child Helpline Number, safe touch-unsafe touch posters, etc. to sensitize the students.
The Chairperson, CCPCR strictly instructed the school authorities to take immediate steps to clear check out all the discrepancies. Both school authorities ensured the inspection team that they will do the needful within week.
Members of the Commission Dr. Monica M Singh and Mr. Sanjay Sharma along with Mr. Kartar Singh, Legal Consultant, CCPCR, Mr. Arvind K Dhawan, Sr. Assistant, CCPCR, Sh. Ravinder Singh, MVI and Sh. Saurav, MVI, STA, Chandigarh were present during the inspection.
