After 7 years of rigorous Research and Development (R&D) a young city based entrepreneur Inderveer Singh Panesar and his team have been able to put into manufacturing electric light commercial vehicles which charge in 20 mins flat and on one charge can travel a distance of 100 kms. The 1 tonne capacity smart truck is being manufactured under the startup -EVage Motors at a sprawling 2 lakh square feet factory in Banur near Chandigarh. As many as 2800 vehicles can be produced per annum.

The trucks are being displayed at the Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicle Exhibition(REEVE),2023 which is on at Parade Ground till Sep 24.The UT adviser also visited the EVage display today and appreciated the startup founded by Inderveer.

“At the moment there are as many as 100 electric light commercial vehicles operational in tricity. My estimate is that in the next 12 months as much as 50 per cent of delivery of products in tricity will be through use of electric light commercial vehicles,” added Inderveer Singh Panesar.

Inderveer Singh Panesar informed that his trucks run on automatic mode making these easy to drive. What’s more, there is no vibration and noise. Five (5) charging stations have already been put up in tricity by EVage.

Inderveer Singh Panesar feels that FMCG and E Commerce companies will be the main buyers of such trucks for transportation of their goods and that the ‘Electric Light Commercial Vehicles’ is a sunrise industry with a lot of scope in the future. According to Panesar as many as 6 lakh light commercial goods vehicles are sold in India every year and that presently just 3-5 percent of these are EVs’, this figure however is slated to become over 50 per cent by 2030.

“We plan to expand our presence in an ambitious way. We shall be opening experience centres pan Punjab this year starting from Ludhiana and pan North India next year. In the next 3 years we plan to go pan India,” summed up Inderveer Singh Panesar.
