The accused threatened to shoot the family

Chandigarh, August 8, 2023:

Ms. Anita Rani, a resident of Mamta Enclave, Dhakoli, has urged the Punjab Govt to provide security for herself and her family. Narrating her woes at the Chandigarh Press Club today, she said that the accused, who fraudulently got her house registered in his name eight years ago, was threatening to kill her and her family.

Anita Rani said at the press conference that her husband, Rajinder Kumar remains sick, and her son has also been mentally disturbed due to the threats. She had registered a case (No. 305/2015) under sections 354 and 420 at Zirakpur (now Dhakoli) police station on December 10, 2015, against Sukhdev Chowdhary, s/o Joginder Singh of Zirakpur, and his accomplices, on which the police did not act for 8-years. When the police presented the challan on July 31, 2023, following the Punjab and Haryana High Court order, the accused started pressurizing the family to withdraw the case. Earlier also he has been threatening the family.

Anita Rani said that Sukhdev Chowdhary calls himself the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and publicly threatens to kill her. He says that the Punjab Police cannot harm him and he has high connections in the Punjab government. The accused also acquired a pistol based on forged documents. He extorts money from common people and thus has made wealth worth crores of rupees. The family complained the matter to higher police authorities but to no avail.

Anita Rani, in the presence of her lawyer, requested the Punjab Government to take action against Sukhdev Chowdhary. His bail and his arms license should be cancelled. She has also demanded protection for her family.
