In a groundbreaking initiative, Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art will begin providing self-defence training to 4089 government schools in Haryana. This program, known as the Rani Lakshmi Bai Atma Raksha Parikshikshan (Self Defense) program 2023-24, will be implemented under the Samagra Shiksha Haryana.
Shastrang founded by Grandmaster Bikram S. Thapa on March 30th, 2019, derives its name from Sanskrit, meaning "Make your body a weapon b." The primary focus of Shastrang is to equip individuals with the necessary skills to protect themselves and others from harm in hostile situations.
Recognizing the need to empower female students in government schools across Haryana, the self-defense training program will offer a diverse range of martial arts disciplines. These include Shastrang, Karate, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Wushu, Gatka, Lathi, Jeet Kawundo, Muay Thai, Judo and Boxing.
To ensure the effective implementation of the program, approximately 1,500 skilled trainers will be engaged. These trainers will be responsible for providing self-defence training to the female students attending the government schools in Haryana.
The Rani Lakshmi Bai Atma Raksha Parikshikshan program is expected to bring about a significant positive impact on the lives of female students. By equipping them with self-defence skills, they will gain greater confidence and be better prepared to navigate challenging situations.
The Samagra Shiksha Haryana initiative aims to improve the overall quality of education in the state. By integrating self-defence training into the curriculum, the program seeks to address the safety concerns faced by female students and promote their holistic development.
The implementation of this initiative signifies a firm commitment from the government towards the empowerment and protection of female students. It is a significant step towards fostering a safe and secure learning environment within the government schools of Haryana.
Starting on September 4th, 2023, Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art will embark on this noble mission to empower and protect female students across government schools in Haryana. By imparting the knowledge and skills of self-defence, they hope to inspire confidence and resilience in the next generation of women in the state.
