Gurupurab Celebration : 550 Kilo Cake prepared at Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 19, Chandigarh


Chandigarh, 12 November, 2019:
A 550 kg cake was prepared for Gurupurab Celebration at Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 19, Chandigarh here today. It was prepared by National Bakers, which has outlets in Chandigarh and Zirakpur. Around 15 cooks prepared the cake in two days to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji.   
The Guest of Honour of the cake cutting programme was Famous Punjabi singer Sukhshinder Shinda Ji.
Mr Sanjay Tandon, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh and the star radio jockey of the city RJ Meenakshi also graced the occasion.
Sardar Tejinder Singh, President, Shri Gurdawara Sahib Singh Sabha, Sector 19 D, Chandigarh said, “I am happy to present one of the largest cakes ever made in India on the occasion of Gurupurab, which was distributed as langar Prasad.”
Shri Paramjit Singh, Shri Satnam Singh, Shri Samandeep Singh, Shri Daljit Singh, Shri Ranbir Singh, Shri Parambir Singh and many other prominent members were also present.
Shri Harpreet Singh, head – Chandigarh branch of Express Immigration Appeal Services (P) Ltd  thanked everyone and the Sangat for Being a part of this historic moment.
The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji is celebrated every year as Gurupurab, also known as Prakash Utsav. This is one of the most sacred festivals in Sikhism. The festivities in the Sikh religion revolve around the anniversaries of the 10 main Sikh Gurus.
