August 31, 2023 – Today, GRAMMY®️ nominated and five-time Latin GRAMMY®️ winner, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer Camilo teamed up with Urban Desi artist and Bollywood star Diljit Dosanjh on new song “Palpita,” an original track released for the second season of Coca-Cola’s global music campaign COKE STUDIO™️. Listen here and watch the key video asset by COKE STUDIO™️ here.

“Palpita” represents an incredible coming together of cultures with Camilo singing in Spanish, and Diljit singing in Punjabi. The new single validates the power of bringing people together through music and to create meaningful connections across different languages. This release also comes off the heels of Camilo headlining two music festivals in Japan for the first time to rave reviews and massive crowds.

“I have always felt a fascination for Indian culture and its traditions,” says Camilo. “I had the chance to go once and fell in love with it. Years later, I noticed what’s happening with Punjabi music and how artists like Diljit, are crossing over and sharing their music, culture, and sound worldwide. I’ve admired Diljit for a long time, long before this collaboration came to me, so it was an incredible surprise to see it all come to life. Working with him in the studio was a valuable learning experience because I had the chance to truly see and feel his huge heart, the richness of his melodies, his kindness, and the one of his team. This song makes me very proud, not just because we did it but what it means in my career and what we are building between his country and mine.”

"Collaborating with the incredibly talented Latin artist Camilo on 'Palpita' for Coke Studio has been a truly enriching experience,” says Diljit. “Music has this extraordinary ability to bridge cultures and create an unbreakable bond among people, and this collaboration exemplifies that beautifully. Working on this project has been an absolute joy, and I'm eagerly looking forward to sharing our Latino X Punjabi musical fusion with the world. I hope 'Palpita' resonates deeply with listeners and brings a sense of unity and joy to everyone who listens."

The new single marks Camilo’s second track of the summer for COKE STUDIO™️, previously featured on Jon Batiste’s song “Be Who You Are (Real Magic)” with other global power house artists including NewJeans, J.I.D, and Cat Burns. “Be Who You Are (Real Magic)” was the first track to officially kick off season two of the worldwide COKE STUDIO™️ campaign. National Skill Development Council of India in its report “Human Development and Skill Requirement in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Sector” highlights that hospitality industry is struggling to find the right talent.
As per The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), the hospitality industry is facing over 60 percent demand-supply gap in skilled manpower and there is a requirement of 3.5 lakh professionals in the industry. A recent survey of 200 hotels conducted by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) revealed that 87 percent of hotels in the United States do not have enough staff.
As the hospitality industry evolves and diversifies, the shortage of adequately skilled personnel may disrupt its progress. From culinary arts to housekeeping and front-line service, roles critical to delivering exceptional guest experiences have a shortage of skilled professionals. The convergence of evolving consumer expectations, technological advancements, and changing industry landscapes compounds this challenge.

Sixteen-Year-Old Nikasha Luthra's Poetry Book Dark Tulips Unveiled

Nikasha announces setting up of Young Adult Literary Society

Chandigarh, August 11, 2023: "Poetry is said to be the only form of literature that reunites one with his or her soul. Honestly, I look at it differently. To me, poetry is always a medium of escape from reality, where anyone can feel what they want to and be who they want to," said sixteen- year-old poet Nikasha Luthra during the unveiling of her maiden English poetry book Dark Tulips here

'Dark Tulips- a collection of 33 poems penned by Vivek High School,

Chandigarh's Class 10 student Nikasha Luthra is about human emotions

Like the title of the book - the poems tell the readers to find the darkest part

of their soul and grow flowers in them.

In the book, the teen poet has highlighted the battle that we all endure with ourselves in our daily lives. She has also touched upon societal issues like - rape, domestic violence, problems of the LGBTQIA+ community, the ongoing Russian and Ukrainian war, etc.

On being asked the reasons for picking up societal issues in her poetry. Nikasha elucidated, "I personally feel that as artists, poets, writers, we all have a responsibility on our shoulders to bring change and spread awareness in society. The overhyped subjects are very easy to talk about but to find a topic which is so emotionally charged up that it gives a shiver down people's spine, is something really challenging!"

Nikasha said that an American poet and author, Edgar Allan Poe, is her all- time favourite and that she draws inspiration from him. Nikasha feels that though she has been able to publish her works due to parental support and the right professional guidance many young talented writers are not able to do so. This has propelled her to set up 'Young Adult Literary Society' that will provide a 360-degree support in publishing of young writers' deserving works

Meanwhile, the book does talk about grey shades of love - darkness, destruction and despair, but Nikasha added, "Through my poems, my sole purpose is to give readers a positive message that all is not dark and depressing but there is certainly light at the end of the tunnel."

It is imperative to mention that, before launching the book in India, Nikasha has showcased her poetry book, Dark Tulips' at three places in Ireland - Embassy of India, Ireland, Griffith College, Ireland, and Writers Club of
Drogheda recently. She received huge appreciation from eminent writers in Ireland. It is noteworthy that Nikasha before her poetry collection has also written a play which has been published as a book - Flowers in Her Room

The media interaction was followed by A poetic recitation and Art-Lit Adaptation based on one of Nikasha's poem 'Discovering Devi' - Hastinapur Se Manipur directed by Nisha Luthra which was staged at the Mini Auditorium of Tagore Theatre. Nikasha also performed a small act on stage in the performed poetry presentation. A short film directed by Nisha Luthra based on Nikasha's poem 'Outside The Safehouse' was also screened. A formal unveiling of the book by eminent personalities that included chief guest Dr. Sumita Mishra(IAS), who is a poet and Additional Chief Secretary. Haryana, guests of honour Dhananjay Chauhan, Transgender Rights Activist, Ms Gulshan Kaur, Principal, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, Ms Sinead Gilmartin, Embassy of Ireland, and Mr. Michale George Calegari, Embassy of the United States of America also took place.

Another highlight of the event was a panel discussion that saw prominent poets and literary bigwigs interacting with the teen poetess Nikasha. Shweta Malhotra, Suneet Madan, Sonika Sethi and Roopam Singh engaged Niskasha in an interesting conversation about her book. The discussion was conducted by Sonia Chauhan. The event's master of ceremonies was Balpreet Kaur, a journalist, screenplay writer and filmmaker.

Threats to kill, Dhakoli's family appeals to Punjab Govt for security

The accused threatened to shoot the family

Chandigarh, August 8, 2023:

Ms. Anita Rani, a resident of Mamta Enclave, Dhakoli, has urged the Punjab Govt to provide security for herself and her family. Narrating her woes at the Chandigarh Press Club today, she said that the accused, who fraudulently got her house registered in his name eight years ago, was threatening to kill her and her family.

Anita Rani said at the press conference that her husband, Rajinder Kumar remains sick, and her son has also been mentally disturbed due to the threats. She had registered a case (No. 305/2015) under sections 354 and 420 at Zirakpur (now Dhakoli) police station on December 10, 2015, against Sukhdev Chowdhary, s/o Joginder Singh of Zirakpur, and his accomplices, on which the police did not act for 8-years. When the police presented the challan on July 31, 2023, following the Punjab and Haryana High Court order, the accused started pressurizing the family to withdraw the case. Earlier also he has been threatening the family.

Anita Rani said that Sukhdev Chowdhary calls himself the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and publicly threatens to kill her. He says that the Punjab Police cannot harm him and he has high connections in the Punjab government. The accused also acquired a pistol based on forged documents. He extorts money from common people and thus has made wealth worth crores of rupees. The family complained the matter to higher police authorities but to no avail.

Anita Rani, in the presence of her lawyer, requested the Punjab Government to take action against Sukhdev Chowdhary. His bail and his arms license should be cancelled. She has also demanded protection for her family.

A book that captures the anxieties of a ‘youth in protest’

Chandigarh, August 7, 2023: A book titled 'Pee For Protest', authored by senior journalist Sanjay Versain, was released at the Chandigarh Press Club on Monday.  Vipin Pubby, former Indian Express resident editor and currently director of the mass communication department at Shoolini University, was the guest of honour on the occasion and the session was moderated by Content Writer and Media Consultant, Jaskiran Kapoor.

Describing the book, writer Sanjay Versain said Pee For Protest is set during the spring of 2011 amid the protest movement sweeping India and is reflection of the anxieties of the youth of that time, battling uncertainty and hopelessness. "It captures the turmoil brewing up in a generation that has forgotten how to rebel. The book brings out this internal conflict, and in the end leaves it for the reader to decide the fate of the protagonist or his own self as well," he said. Narrated in a stream-of-consciousness style, the story is open-ended to allow different interpretations. Coming from a writer with roots in Himachal, the story uses the mountain topography and local issues like power projects, over-tourism, and drug abuse as a backdrop.

A by-product of the post-liberalized India, the main character in the novel - stuck in the routine of a hyper-competitive career - gets drawn into a wave of protests sweeping the country. "Caught in the uncertainty of mistrust and over-interpretations veiling the landscape at that time, we all were unwilling conspirator against the status quo. But something held us back. What could it be? Perhaps genetic mutation, which makes us Indians not capable of revolutions that cleanse the system. So most of us took solace in silent candle protests. But the protagonist here doubted himself in even that, and the story is about what happens with him thereafter," the writer said.

In a bout of nothingness, protagonist Nachiket lands up at a very unlikely place while on his way to meet his girlfriend. He confesses his licentious act to his girlfriend but cannot escape its consequences. While Nachiket tries to make sense of his blunders, which he attributes to his inability to take decisions, more trouble follows as he is accused of raping the woman he spent few hours with at a hotel. Is it witch-hunt for having mocked a cop during a protest rally? He knows not.

Nachiket instead expresses his defiance by deciding to attend a rave party in a mountain hideout. The conspiratorial djinns of uncertainty follow him even as he gets stuck in more uncertainty and pathos. He even survives a near suicide, maybe because he claims to have “promised himself not to harm himself”. The rave itself seems as unreal as the forces trying to pull him astray and the people he meets – a free-flying paraglider peddling marijuana aerially, an old foreigner living alone in a cave, a woman shaman pursuing godly union – are equally uncanny.

Nachiket holds himself responsible for his misery and plots a repentance plan, making him take a rather bold leap into certainty; that of atonement for the crimes he did not commit. “That’s what he believes we as a nation need to do – admit our larger guilt,” the writer said. Fate again presents before him an opportunity to untangle the knots he himself tied around his neck. Sensing an opportunity to himself be a conspirator, the latent rebel in him comes alive and plots a little mutiny of his own, hoping to keep alive the revolution, if not change. The writer claimed that any effort for meaningful change in our society today can at best be seen as just a grand spectacle, entertaining but tragic as well.
