Gillco International School Mohali organized a Workshop on “Thinking beyond Engineering” on 26th August which witnessed a magnificent response with more than 130 students from grades 9th to 12th participating in the Workshop .
Mr. Tarun Gupta, Director Communications and Career Counseling organized the workshop on behalf of Gillco International School and welcomed the Dr. Padmakumar Nair , Dean TSLAS (Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences ) ,an Eminent Educationist par excellence to address the students on the captioned topic.
Dr. Nair captivated the students with his charismatic delivery of the workshop and took students to the unconventional careers beyond engineering . He said, “Empathy is the mother of excellence and success is much more meaningful with empathy.”
He urged students to choose careers based on interest , passion and humanity and center life around learning , creating and helping. Another underlying value which student should absorb is Self improvement which is key to successful life.
He kept the audience actively involved with his interactive and articulate presentation supported by interesting case studies and success stories of many greats with paradigm shifts in their illustrious careers. He also briefed everyone about various courses offered by TSLAS as well as Thapar University along with Admission modalities.
There were a lot of questions asked by GIS students which were very promptly answered by Dr. Nair .All participating students were given Certificate of participation duly signed by the Guest of Honor .He also invited GIS students for a physical tour of Patiala campus.
Principal Ms Ruchi Sharma gave a vote of thanks to Dr. Nair. She said, “It was wonderful to welcome Mr Nair who enhanced the students with his impeccable life learning and cerebral values.”
Visibly happy Ms Jai Sandhu, Executive Director GIS and master brain behind the turnaround of the school shared that the school has already been ranked number 1 in Punjab as per Education World Career Counseling Leaders rankings 2021 and that the School also won Career Changemakers award for the year 2022 hosted by Career Guide.
Tarun Gupta added that the school is conducting free psychometric assessments to students of grades 9th to 12th followed by one on one counseling sessions to support students make informed career decisions in order build sustainable, scalable and compassionate careers which will have them set for life.
