Chandigarh, September 12, 2018 :  In a unique case, a pre-term baby was successfully treated at Fortis Hospital, Mohali despite several complications. The baby was born through C-section on 6 th  November 2017 at 23 weeks of gestation (at 5 and half months of pregnancy) and weighed only 560 grams at birth. This is the first 23-week baby to have been saved in the entire region including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir. A four days workshop on evidence based nursing practice was organized by National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh from 5th to 8th September 2018 in order to improve the quality of health care. A total of 51 participants from different parts of Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab participated in the workshop. Dr. Arvind Rajwanshi, Dean Research, PGIMER, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest and he inaugurated the event and emphasized that evidence based nursing practice is an important step towards evidence based healthcare practice. He also highlighted that this type of workshop has to be organized more frequently and all nurses in the hospital must undergo this training.  The incidence of cancer is increasing  globally. In India, as well, the number of patients with cancer is on the rise. The department of Radiodiagnosis at PGIMER, Chandigarh has recently acquired the state-of-the-art machine for doing cryoablation of tumours in patients who are not  suitable to be treated with surgery. This machine is the first of its kind installed anywhere in the country. With no age group or gender barrier, there were 3 variants of races that took place: 5km, 10km and 21km. Health & Wellness  You-tuber Ranveer Allahbadia , who goes by the name- Beerbiceps also participated to support the cause followed by a motivational talk for the audience.  Mr. Satish Kumar Sharma, forme r Director General of Police and current president of the Punjab Golf Association  also attended the event to show his support. World physiotherapy day was celebrated in the advanced eye center by the Pgi Physiotherapists. An awareness program was held on ' Role of Physiotherapy in Intensive care unit and role of exercises in diabetes, by the speakers Dr Lokesh and Dr Sandeep kaur. It was attended by the Dy  Director, Mr Amitabh Awasthi, who appreciated the work of Physiotherapists and congratulated them for their  cadre review and upgradation.
