Chandigarh: Padma Shri awardee and Rajya Sabha MP, Sant Balbir Seechewal, inaugurated the NGO Life Care Foundation’s free blood testing service for pre-chemotherapy and pre-dialysis today. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that while there are many who provide langar (community kitchens), there is a greater need for those who offer free healthcare services. He addressed a press conference held at the Chandigarh Press Club.
Known as "Eco Baba," Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal highlighted that due to financial constraints, poor people cannot even get their health check-ups done, let alone afford treatments. He welcomed the Life Care Foundation’s initiative, stating that efforts like these are extremely necessary for such needy individuals.
Avtar Singh and Jagtar Singh, Managing Directors of Life Care Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to providing affordable services, explained that their 90-plus laboratory collection centers are established not only in the Tricity but also in Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. They offer a comprehensive array of tests for patients with severe illnesses like cancer and kidney diseases. This includes 37 tests conducted before each dialysis, 22 CBC (complete blood count) tests, and 15 KFT (kidney function tests). For cancer patients, a total of 48 tests are conducted before chemotherapy, including 22 CBC tests, 15 KFT tests, and 11 LFT (liver function tests).
The core members of the organization, Amarjeet Singh Cholang and pathologist Dr. Eshi Sharma, were also present at the event. Life Care Foundation is a charitable laboratory organization dedicated to providing affordable services. The NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accredited laboratory, recognized by the Government of India, ensures that all tests are conducted under the supervision of expert doctors.
