Mohali , October 2: Staff of Municipal Corporation, Mohali and Shalby Hospital along with members of Loins Club ,school children and local residents came together to carry out a joint ‘Shramdaan Drive’ to make Mohali a plastic free city on Gandhi Jyanti on Wednesday.
All gathered at a park in 3BI early morning and started the drive to clean the area.
The drive was flagged-off by Bhupinder Pal SIngh, Mohali MC Commissioner . Among others, Ajoy Sharma CEO of Punjab infrastructure Development Corporation , Satpal Singh Gambhir and Vishal Mishra, CAO and head-corporate development of Shalby Hospital respectively, Vineet Verma president of Mohali Beopar Mandal and Kuljeet Singh Bedi , councilor were also presented during occasion.
Later a walkathon to beat plastic pollution was also organized. Carrying placards and raising slogans the participants in walkathon encouraged people to not use plastic. The school children also performed skits on the plastic free theme during occasion.
