Community Kitchen Held to Mark the Beginning of 'Saawan'
Panchkula, August 2, 2026: To mark the beginning of the holy month of 'Saawan', the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Purushottam Das Rungta Charitable Trust, reaffirmed its commitment to social service by organising a Community Kitchen ('Ann Bhandara') at Industrial Area, Phase I, Panchkula. The event marked the 226th Ann Bhandara organised by the Trust.
Amitabh Rungta, Founder of the Trust and a well-known social worker, said, "The month of 'Saawan' is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is regarded as a sacred period for prayer, charity and acts of kindness, making community service and food distribution especially meaningful during this time."
He further said that the holy month of 'Saawan' reminds humankind that true devotion is expressed through selfless service.
"A Community Kitchen or 'Ann Bhandara' is not just about serving food, but about sharing compassion, dignity and care with those in need," Rungta added.
The Trust thanked its volunteers and supporters for helping make the initiative a success and reaffirmed its commitment to serving the community through such humanitarian initiatives.
