Amit Kumar wins full marathon, 1st runner-up title goes to Amit & Anmol Chandan adjudged 2nd runner-up

Poonam Rana adjudged winner in the female full -marathon category, Poonam Deswal bags 1st runner-up title and Shivani Loht takes 2nd runner-up spot

Chandigarh, February 22, 2026: The Opus1Run – New Chandigarh Marathon (Run for Punjab) was successfully held on Sunday. The marathon aimed to promote health, fitness, and a strong sports culture in Punjab and the Chandigarh Capital Region. The marathon was an initiative of GB Realty and was organized by GB Legends. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann unveiled the official jersey of the marathon. Prizes were presented to the winners by Naunihal Singh (IPS), Garima Singh (IRS), and GB Realty’s Founder and Chairman Gurinder Bhatti. The marathon was flagged-off from Doon International School, New Chandigarh and ended at the start point.

Amit Kumar won the full marathon (42 km) with a time of 3:08:41. The first runner-up title went to Amit who clocked a time of 3:18:59, and Anmol Chandan was adjudged second runner-up with a time of 3:20:31. In the female category, Poonam Rana (4:32:33) was the winner, Poonam Deswal (5:03:56) was the first runner-up, and Shivani Loht (5:30:37) was the second runner-up.


In the Half Marathon (21 km) male category, Yash Raj (1:08:52) was the winner, Sumit Dahiya (1:09:04) was the first runner-up, and Kapil (1:10:52) came third. In the female category, Santosh (1:36:23) was the winner, Muskan (1:36:48) was the first runner-up, and Mandeep Kaur (1:40:02) was the second runner-up.

Speaking on the occasion, Gurinder Bhatti, Founder and Chairman of GB Realty, stated that this marathon promoted sports activities. He stated that this was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and that they would continue to organize similar sports events in the future.

The results of other marathon events were as follows: In the male 10 km race, Charanjeet Singh (0:31:02) was the winner, Rohit (0:31:07) was the first runner-up, and Navdeep (0:32:05) was the second runner-up. In the female category, Khushi (0:45:45) was the winner, Muskan (0:46:13) was the first runner-up, and Sita (0:47:15) was the second runner-up.

In the male 5 km race, Mahendra Kumar (0:18:02) was the winner, Rahul Kumar (0:18:26) was the first runner-up, and Sujeet Kumar Singh (0:20:38) was the second runner-up. In the female category, Rajayalakshmi (0:26:01) was the winner, Nandhika (0:30:36) was the first runner-up, and Priyanka (0:31:07) was the second runner-up.

GB Legends Owner Gurnav Bhatti said that this marathon marked the beginning of GB Legends' long-term sports initiative, which aims to establish the Chandigarh Capital Region as a strong sports hub, producing national and international level athletes.


Around 750 runners participated enthusiastically in various categories, reflecting the growing interest in fitness and endurance sports in the region. Attractive cash prizes were awarded in various competitive categories.

The event was supported by Park Hospital, Verka, Punjab Agro, Campa Sure, Mahindra Electric Chandigarh, Chandigarh Distance Runners, ASICS Running Club, Skechers Running Club, and Doon International School.
