Gita Gyan Satsang by Sudhanshu Maharaj begins in Panchkula

Panchkula, Nov 10, 2022:
Gita is such a powerful book that everyone should read it regularly because it is a divine scripture. Just as the Himalayas is one, so is the Gita. It is necessary to keep Gita in every house, as spirituality is an essential part of life. May all parents start their day in the name of Lord Shri Krishna. Spiritual Guru Shri Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj said these lines on the first day of the four-day grand Bhakti Satsang going on at Shalimar Maidan, Sector 5, Panchkula today.

In this devotional Satsang organized by Vishwa Jagriti Mission (Panchkula, Chandigarh, and Mohali Mandal), Sudhanshu ji Maharaj said that as purification of the body is necessary, purification of the mind is also recommended. Negative energy can be kept away by meditating. The Gita is composed of the words emanating from the mouth of Shri Krishna ji, reading which makes life meaningful. There should always be an emphasis on good habits in life.

He further said that in every circumstance one should keep smiling like Lord Krishna and be thankful to God for whatever is achieved in life. In the eighth chapter of the Gita, Lord Krishna says that one should fight one's own shortcomings and evils. By repeating again and again for 40 days, a practice turns into a habit. Emphasis should be laid on developing good habits.

The Satsang will continue till November 13, in which Shri Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj will explain the teachings of Lord Shri Krishna and give discourses on meditation and knowledge of the Gita. Satsang's timings are from 9 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 7 pm daily. Free arrangements have been made for the stay and refreshments of the devotees coming from outside.

Three-day Wall Art Fest takes off at Alliance Française

Artist Olivia de Bona brings French Art to City

Chandigarh, November 9, 2022:Three-day Wall Art Fest took off at Alliance Française, Sector 36 here today, as the French artist Olivia de Bona left the visitors awestruck with her works.

Born in 1985, Olivia after obtaining a diploma in Applied Arts and Animated Cinema, met the 9e Concept collective with Romain Froquet and Lapinthur.

Olivia de Bona is distinguished by her rich and colourful universe, close to illustration. All her work echoes our childhood’s imagination: her strange and elegant characters, sort of fantastic battalions, intersect, mingle and will blend as in a dream.

Halfway between the cartoons of our childhood and popular tales, Olivia keeps us between two worlds, between the sweetness of our memories and their darkest recesses.

“For this mural art, I want to find a few emblematic motifs to represent the “French-style” architecture in a city marked by Le Corbusier. I am going to reclaim a certain idea of France and let it be invaded by lush vegetation by inhabiting it with animals typical of this corner of India!”, she said.

Olivia while explaining about her art work titled, 'Let India put colors in my life' added, “The idea showcases France meeting India. It's kind of funny that the sad and grey rooftops of Paris, on a rainy day, are given the effect of India, which on the contrary, has a lot of colours, vegetation and animals. It's like France transforming into India, when you're crossing through their border.

I've created this piece of art with a little bit of both France and India as a gift to the French learners so that whenever they come across this wall art they can connect with the Parisian architecture with Indian diversity.”

Olivia de Bona has participated in many street art events such as L'Art à l'Ourcq in 2014. In the The Aucwin route, the street art route in Saint-Denis, organized by 6B in 2015. She participated, in 2021, at the Fenêtre sur rue street art project in Aubervilliers.

In addition to her participation in many street art events during which she creates murals, she illustrates children's books like Go! Kiki Go !.

The French Institute in India, the network of Alliances Francaises in India, JSW Paints and their partners will pursue the development of a second edition of the Wall Art Festival. From the 7th of November until the 2nd of December 2022, all the invited artists will aim to make our cities and public space always more colourful and beautiful, through the vision of visual artists.

As a part of the Wall Art Festival, four wall-artists Kid Kreol and Boogie, Olivia De Bona, Neethi and Mr. Poes will be crossing the country to look for fresh paintings. Wall Art Festival is a national festival developed in many cities of the country. For the second edition of the Wall Art Festival, the artists will be releasing + 16 projects all over the country.

Besides Chandigarh, the artists would be travelling to 13 cities, including, Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkota, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Trivandrum, Hyderabad, and Pune.

Dairy can transform lives of farmers; integrated solutions needed

At a wide-ranging discussion, all stakeholders from the Indian Veterinary Association to companies in the business of improving shelf-life of milk participated

Chandigarh, November 5, 2022: Sustainable dairy and livestock management practices was the subject of an engaging discussion as part of a special conference at the CII AgroTech 2022 on Saturday. The conference, with participation from eminent experts and businesses, was part of the events on Day 2 of the four-day 15th edition of the premier agri and food technology fair.

The theme of the event was ‘Digital transformation for sustainable agriculture and food security.’

In his opening remarks to set the context, Mr Gurmeet Singh Bhatia, Chairman, Ajooni Biotech Ltd, said, “Livestock contributes to 40% of global agriculture output. Over 70 million farmers are directly involved in dairy farming. We are here to exchange ideas on achieving sustainable diary management.”

He also added that India has an abundance of genetic resources for dairy animals, both in terms of population and diversity. If a farmer is educated and knowledgeable, he or she will set an example for the poor and laggards who are not ready to accept change.

Mr Rick Nobel, Agriculture Attache, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in his address mentioned that agriculture and animal husbandry is bilateral to Dutch association with India. In the Netherlands, there is continuous interaction between farmers and government, retailers, and bankers. He added that Dutch companies are working on QR codes in India to bring more awareness among consumers regarding where the milk is exactly coming from which can tell the city, process followed and the cow that was milked.

Sachin Sharma, Vice-President, Operations, ITC Ltd, said, “Dairy is a success story for India and the involvement of women in the industry is very high. A challenge is that the productivity has been low, but improving. Integrated solutions are needed.”

Mr Pranatharthiharan Natarajan, Business Development Lead, India, Thyssenkrupp Ltd, “There is an alternative to pasteurization of milk, called HPP. However, it lacks its implementation in India, it does not kill the nutrients and does not change the taste. This will also help India’s efforts at export as this technology takes the shelf life of liquid milk to 45 days.”

Dr Chirantan Kadian, President, Indian Veterinary Association, said, “We can use cow urine to make phenyl. We need to use our Pashudhan more effectively. Stray cattle management is a very big problem. Local bodies are wasting resources on tackling this, to very little effectiveness."

Concluding the session, Mr Bhatia said, “The discussion has been comprehensive and touched all aspects of sustainable dairy. Today’s dialogue will have benefitted the industry and other stakeholders.”

Dr. Jaswinder Bhatti, Chairman, Daintech Dairy Development Centre, said
"Integrating technology in dairy farming is the need of the hour. Use your mobile phones to good use by recording details of your livestock. Farmers today face difficulties in tracking their livestock data. We have built a software in DMEC  where through RFID tags we place sensors that are placed on livestock's neck to track them. We have developed Allflex monitoring technology through SenseHub app that tracks livestock's activities like movement, eating, ruminating, and 14 behaviours that livestocks show. This gets updated every hour on your mobile phones. All this data is used in assessing reproduction in livestock. This is crucial because if reproduction in livestock fails, dairy as a sector will fail."

Improving adolescent wellbeing an urgent global priority: PMNCH

Chandigarh, November 4: Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) has launched the first tranche of a special collection of articles arguing that the global agenda for sustainable development cannot be achieved without increased focus on demographic groups left behind, and specifically adolescents.
Within the collection, the authors describe how global public health investment per capita for adolescents is lower than in any other demographic and yet this group comprises 23% of the population of low-income countries, and numbers nearly doubled from 1980 to 2020.
Established in 2005, PMNCH is the world’s largest alliance for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health and well-being, with 1,250 partner organizations working together through 10 constituency groups.
The author group, which includes India’s health secretary, argue that investing in the wellbeing of adolescents, which encompasses, but goes beyond health, will deliver economic returns well beyond the level invested. In the lead-up to the Global Forum for Adolescents in 2023, a special collection was published in The BMJ arguing for greater priority to be placed on the needs and wellbeing of adolescents globally.
Meanwhile over 1.5 million adolescents aged 10-24 years died in 2020, nearly 5000 every day, mostly from preventable or treatable causes. Globally, one in seven 10 to 19 year olds experiences problems with mental health, accounting for 13% of the global burden of disease in this age group. Every year at least 12 million girls are married before the age of 18, inhibiting their access to education. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its pledge to “leave no one behind” will not be achieved if urgent attention is not paid to adolescents and their wellbeing.
The collection advocates for centering the voices of youth themselves in agenda-setting and design, implementation, and evaluation of services intended for them.
