CHANDIGARH,29.08.19-Black Lotus, the fine dining Chinese restaurant at Taj Chandigarh, introduces an all new menu that has been especially curated by their expatriate Chef, Yan Jun Jun. Already a leading Chinese restaurant in the city, Black Lotus at Taj Chandigarh is a popular destination for epicureans who enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine. The restaurant had impressed the city foodies with its revamp last year that saw a lovely alfresco added to the restaurant along with a lounge too. Then they went on to welcome on board the only Chinese expatriate chef of the city in an endeavor to bring Beijing flavors to Chandigarh. General Manager, Surinder Singh tell us that ‘in an attempt to constantly better themselves, the hotel keeps pace with the latest in the industry and attempts to bring it to the guests.’ The central idea in having Chef Yan Jun Jun come on board was to bring to Chandigarh, the unadulterated dishes of China. The new menu is perfectly balanced with regards to the vegetarian and non-vegetarian palate. Apart from the main course, guests can choose from a range of options covering soups, salads, dim sums, kothe, baozi, wontons, appetizers, hot pots and also the ever-popular Black Lotus grills. An old favorite, the Peking Duck has been retained from the old menu, though the new Chef does add his personal zing to this interactive meal course. This holds true for the clay pot section of the menu too, where one finds that Chef Yan Jun Jun has indeed brought in his special touch to this wholesome meal option. The menu packs in a variety when it comes to delicacies like prawns, calamari and lobsters. However, there are some vegetarian delights like wok tossed tomato, zucchini, bell pepper in old Beijing sauce, which should not be missed at all. The dessert section of the menu deserves special mention too. Regulars like darsaan, date pancake and banana and apple toffee have been retained, with new gems like red cherry Bavarois frosting and lemon grass crème brulee, have been introduced too. Chocolate fondue deserves special mention here for not just how well the dish has been presented, but also the lovely variety of flavors that it brings to the table. A sure shot winner, the new menu at Taj Chandigarh Black Lotus is indeed a delight for guests and bound to have you flocking to the restaurant over and over again.

Stay healthy with almonds this festive season
Chandigarh, 28th August 2019:As people acrossnorthern India begin preparations for the upcoming auspicious festivals of Navratri, Karwa Chauth, Dussehra and Diwali, a sessionaround ‘Staying healthy this festive season’ was concluded in the city today. For many, the month of September marks the onset of the festive season, and is the most anticipated time of the year. This is partly true because it’s a great opportunity for many to connect with relatives and friends, enjoy some of our favourite festival food and binge eat on yummy mithaai’s. As the festivals approach, it’s easy to get carried away with the revelry, and lose sight of one’s health.
Keeping in mind these nuances, and in an effort to promote a healthier festive season, the session, which was hosted by prominent Punjabi artist, Satinder Satti along with Ritika Samaddar,Regional Head-Dietetics, Max Healthcare – Delhi, centred on minorlifestyle, and diet changes or additions that families can adopt to stay healthy during the festivities. Whether it’s by making tweaks and adjustments to daily habits such as following your morning ritual of consuming almonds, or making more conscious and healthy choices, or even serving healthy and tasty snacks such as almonds while entertaining friends and family, the session addressed and offered solutions to a melange of challenges that many of us face these days especially during festivals. Towards the end, Chef Karthikeyan, JW Marriott, Chandigarh also created a few easy and healthy almond based snackrecipes, which would be perfect to ring in the festivities.
Speaking at the event, prominent Punjabi artist, Satinder Satti said, “While festivals are a great time to connect with the family, get together and share love, it’s also a time when we tend to be less conscious of our eating habits and snacking. For me, almonds have always been my go-to snack and I ensure I keep a handful handy, for any sudden hunger pangs. During festivals, I also make it a point to include delicious variants like roasted, caramelized or flavoured almonds, as a part of the snacks menu during parties or family get-togethers, to ensure weeat healthy while we enjoy the festivities.”
Ritika Samaddar, Regional Head-Dietetics, Max Healthcare – Delhi, said, “A lot of people usually over-indulge in unhealthy foods during the festive season, and this tends to have a bigger impact in the long run. A simple way to avoid going overboard during festivals, and yet enjoy the festivities is by replacing our unhealthy snacks with something that is nutritious and helps you feel full in between meals. Nuts such as almonds are a good alternative. Almonds are a source of 15 nutrients such as vitamin E, dietary fibre, protein, riboflavin, calcium etc., and also have satiating properties that promote feelings of fullness, which can help keep hunger pangs at bay, and keep you from reaching for the tempting empty calories that surround you this time of the year.
Chef Karthikeyan, said “For many of us, festivals are a time, when we pay less heed to what we eat, and tend to feast on sweets, fried snacks, and so much more. However, festivals are also a great opportunity, to experiment with new variants and dishes. So whether it’s while entertaining guests at a taash party, or as an evening snack while breaking one’s fast or even something to satiate a sweet craving - these almond based recipes will be a tasty treat, perfect for any and every occasion.”

Khera on 4th August, 2019, at Hotel Royal Castle, Zirakpur, near Chandigarh. The meeting was impressively attended by Officers and the Senior Leaders of AIBOC who participated in the gathering.
Mr. T.S. Saggu, State Secretary AIBOC Tricity Chandigarh from State Bank of India congratulated PSB Officers Union activists for the good gathering and appraised the latest status of wage revision Mr. Lalit Arora, General Secretory, Haryana State Unit AIBOC assured the members of AIPSBOU that AIBOC will go to any extent in getting them justice.
Mr. Khera criticized the Management of Punjab & Sind Bank for surrendering to the ill-designs of the rival union, which earlier directed the Officers not to buy the ESPS Scheme and later called the management of Punjab & Sind Bank “Corrupt & Badmash”. It is a matter of regret that the management succumbed to their pressure and accepted the label and very obnoxiously adjusted the leaders of Officers Federation and changed their transfers at stone throw away places in spite of their longer stay in the Zones whereas the others were sent to 200-300 kilometers away even if they had lot of compassions. With the connivance of so called majority union, the management violated the policy passed by the Board. Now, as there is a lot of disparity and injustice for which we shall fight tooth and nail. He further assured that the leadership of AIBOC will also participate in the struggle along with PSBians. Mr. Khera said that the management is protecting corrupts but is not Badmash as it easily surrendered to a very small unethical issue of agitation of Officers Federation.
The Union leader Mr. Sandip Panwar, Mr. Balwinder Singh, Mr. Bhupinder Singh, and Mr. Sumeet Anand thanked Officers who attended on short notice and also assured parity and justice to our members if they remain united and did not bother about the rumour mongers.
