GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND PRIVATE MILLERS PROCURE 17892925 TONNES OF PADDY TILL TODAY

CHANDIGARH, DECEMBER 10:

The Punjab Government agencies and private millers have procured total 17892925 tonnes of Paddy in Punjab till today evening which included 4463 tonnes procured on 10^th December.

Disclosing this here today, an official Spokesman of Punjab Government said that out of total procurement of 17892925 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 17620812 tonnes of paddy (98.5%) till date whereas 272113 tonnes (1.5%) of paddy has been procured by millers.

He said that PUNGRAIN had procured 5988042 tonnes (33.5%), MARKFED procured 3889581 tonnes (21.7%). PUNSUP procured 3839978 tonnes (21.5%), PSWC procured 1751604 tonnes (9.8%) and PAFC was able to procure 1771022 tonnes  (9.9%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 380585 tonnes (2.1%). 

Haryana News

Chandigarh, Dec 10- In Haryana, more than 71.21 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of Paddy has been arrived so far in mandis, as  against the arrival of 69.56 lakh MT during the same period of last year.
           While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that out of the total arrival, government procuring agencies have procured over 59.11 lakh metric tonnes whereas over 12.10 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is purchased by millers and dealers.
          He said that more than 27.51 lakh MT of paddy have been purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, over 19.22 lakh MT by Hafed, over 6.49 lakh MT by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation, over 5.68 lakh MT by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and 19,667 MT by the Food Corporation of India.
          Giving details of arrival in mandis of different districts, the spokesman said that out of the total arrival, the maximum quantity of paddy has arrived in Karnal which is over 14.62 lakh MT followed by Kurukshetra over 12.12 lakh MT. Similarly, over 9.33 lakh MT paddy has arrived in mandis of Kaithal, over 8.22 lakh MT in Fatehabad, over 7.91 lakh MT in Ambala, over 6.04 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, over 4.69 lakh MT in Jind, over 2.38 lakh MT in Sirsa, over 1.47 lakh MT in Hisar, over 1.30 lakh MT each in Panipat and Panchkula, 79,470 MT in Palwal, 58,231 MT in Rohtak, 37,626 MT in Jhajjar and 2,459 MT in Gurugram.

Chandigarh, Dec 10– The Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, has strongly condemned the incident of rape of six-year old girl in Uklana as a huge embarrassment to the humanity and said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) would investigate the case to ensure that justice is provided to the victim at any cost.
            Interacting with media persons in Hisar today, Capt Abhimanyu said that taking cognizance of the incident, the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, had directed that the case be investigated by a SIT.
         Asked about the campaign launched by the INLD on toll tax, the minister said when in opposition, INLD leaders mislead people by giving irresponsible statements on providing 24-hour power supply and free electricity. They should indulge in responsible politics. If they feel that law is being violated in case of toll or any other issue, they could get it resolved legally. The people of the state have come to understand the politics of INLD very well and have dismissed the party, he added.
          Capt Abhimanyu said the Chief Minister had already ended toll on about 30 roads in the state. The work on laying the web of road network in the country, initiated by the former Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is being carried forward rapidly.
          Earlier while redressing the grievances of people, the minister directed the District Revenue Officer, Mr. Rajender Singh, to suspend such patwaris as caused unnecessary delay in works like registration of mutation (intkal) in the district. Taking a tough stand against officers and employees causing unnecessary delay in the execution of works, he said that negligence in work generated fear of corruption which would not be tolerated at any cost. As many as 58 complaints were taken up and Capt Abhimanyu directed the officers concerned to redress them at the earliest.
          Later, the Minister held a meeting with district officers and sought information about the projects which were lying pending at the headquarters in Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, December 10- With a view to bringing uniformity, transparency and avoiding any major gap between the market price and collector rates of properties, the Haryana Government has decided to revise the collector rates both in urban and rural areas, twice in a financial year. 
           This was disclosed by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, while speaking as Chief Guest at the concluding session of the two-day national meet of the Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organizations, here today. 
           A committee has been constituted under chairmanship of the deputy commissioner concerned for this purpose. The collector rates fixed by respective DCs would be uploaded on the website for inviting suggestions and objections, and, after considering these, the collector rates would be finalized, he added. 
           Mr Manohar Lal said that three years ago, when he had taken over the reins of the administration in the state, he had resolved to put an end to corruption by adopting zero tolerance policy and minimizing the scope for discretion. Besides scrapping interview for selection to class III and IV category posts, it has been decided to give weightage of five per cent to the candidate in whose family no one is in government job, and the annual income of the family is less than Rs 3 lakh.
          Similarly, five per cent weightage would be given to the candidate who lost his father before attaining the age of 15. A provision of five per cent weightage has also been made for the candidates belonging to Denotifed Tribes who have not yet been covered under the Scheduled Castes or Backward Classes. 
           The Chief Minister said there was rampant corruption in the transfer of employees, particularly of teachers, as their transfer was done manually. Only ten per cent of teachers were present in the schools as they had to make frequent rounds of Chandigarh to get postings of their choice. But as a result of the transparent online teachers transfer policy implemented by the present government, about 93 per cent teachers got stations of their choice. Last year, transfer of 42,000 teachers was effected with a single click, he added. 
           While emphasizing the need for social security for every individual, he said his government was taking all such steps as were required for the uplift of the needy and the poor. “We are the first to announce monthly old age allowance of Rs 2,000 to all eligible beneficiaries of over 60 years. The old age allowance is being increased at the rate of Rs 200 every year, and from 2019, the beneficiaries would get Rs 2000. 

Chrysanthemum show ends with prize distribution

Rajesh Kumar Gupta for ward No. 16, Sh. Devinder Singh Babla, area councillor for ward No. 18 received 2nd position award and Smt. Raj Bala Malik, area councillor ward No. 2 received 3rd position award under Swachhatam Ward awards.

During the programme, the Commissioner appealed to the citizens of Chandigarh to join hands with Municipal Corporation in this mega exam to make their city No.1 in Swachh Survekshan-2018 and keep their city neat clean. The MCC also displayed a stall in the Terraced garden under “Swachh Bharat Mission” to create awareness among masses regarding Segregation of waste at source level and to download Swachhata MoHUA app.

The Chief Guest went around the garden alongwith Sh. N.P. Sharma, Superintending Engineer B&R, Sh. K.P. Singh, Executive Engineer, Horticulture division and other senior officers of Municipal Corporation to see the various flowers exhibited there with different permutations and combinations.

          The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the officials of Municipal Corporation for organizing such a beautiful show. He said that it was a great show, keep it up and make Chandigarh No.1 in India in the every field.

Gardeners of Horticulture Department, MC in the show have made boat, camel, peacock, cow, giraffe, lion and many other animals and birds using flowers. Near about 266 varieties of Chrysanthemum have been displayed in the show. The beautiful displays of the Chrysanthemum in the Show have helped Chandigarh in acquiring international fame.

NGO’s awarded for their contribution in rehabilitation of those suffering from mental health issues

Chandigarh, December 10, 2017: First national conference on rehabilitation of persons with mental illness concluded at Government Medical College Chandigarh (GMCH), Sector 32 here.

NGO’s working for those suffering from mental health issues were awarded on the concluding day. In the category of Most Prestigious Award i.e. the best NGO award there were 5 presentations. Best NGO was awarded was MS Chellamuttu amongst the 5 NGO which competed for the same. The Indira Mehndiratta Award for best research in mental health by student was given to Mr. James JW, Dr. Suraj Bhan Award for best innovative practice in the field of Mental Health was awarded to Dr. TSS Rao.

Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College Chandigarh (GMCH) along with Parivartan – a mental health movement had organised the conference. The theme of the conference was ‘Support for caregivers and persons with mental illness: Innovative approaches.

In the scientific sessions, Mr. Shahzada Khurram from FACEMI NGO based in New Delhi and he shared his experiences as a care giver of his sister, who was abandoned by her husband and Mr. Khurram is taking care of his sister and her 10-year-old daughter, he shared his journey as a caregiver full of agony, and obstacles, and how this care giving affected his whole life. Because of his personal suffering he took up the job of advocacy and along with his mentors Dr. Nirmala Srinivasan, who could not attend the conference due to health issues but got part in the conference via skype, she also shared her contribution in the mental issues.

Another lecture by Mr. Bipin Malia, who is a Balasar, Gujarat based caregiver group leader shared his experience of setting up half way home for the recovered persons with mental illness without any mental support. Another invited lecture by Ms. Rita Seth, who runs Gurgaon based NGO and talked about her work on mental health issues of rural based population, using street play, puppet show and other innovative methods. Lastly lecture by D. C Ramasubramaniam from the Chellamattu trust Madurai shared his experience of setting up rehab facilities for 300 persons suffering from intellectual disabilities. He has setup this facility through networking through various department, he also shared his experience of not only proving care and support but also explouted existing government schemes including MNREGA for the benefits of persons   

In the free paper oral presentation, amongst total of 9 presentations, Dr. Sai Prashant Bansal was awarded the best, along with Ms. Kanupriya and Ms. Neha John, while in the free poster presentation out of 13 Dr. Harneet, Dr. Kshitiz, Dr. Shikha were adjudged the best.

During the valedictory function, the organising chairman Prof BS Chavan, HOD, Department of Psychiatry cum Additional Director, Mental Health Institute presented a brief report of the 2-day national conference, in which there were 250 registered delegates, nine invited lectures, four workshops   two panel discussions, 12 free papers and 21 posters. He said as of now that the psychiatry departments in medical care, private nursing homes and clinics are delivering only 10-15 % mental health care facilities, and the rest is being taken care by the care givers, and NGOs, which hence had a major role to play.

PUNJAB CM EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH ARMED FORCES ON FLAG DAY

Chandigarh, December 6:

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday expressed solidarity with the valiant soldiers and ex-servicemen of the Indian armed forces and appealed to the people to donate generously for their welfare.

Exhorting people to come out with voluntary donations for the Flag Day Fund to mark the occasion on December 7, the Chief Minister said the money would be used for the rehabilitation of war widows, disabled defence personnel and ex-servicemen.

“On this Flag Day, let us strive to help the families of our brave soldiers who attained martyrdom in the defence and honour of the motherland,” he said, in a message, adding that the people of India would forever remain indebted to their valour and commitment in safeguarding the country from external as well as internal aggression.

Any contribution to the Fund would be a token of respect towards the outstanding services rendered by our valiant soldiers, who zealously guard the country’s borders round the clock, he added.

The Flag Day is observed every year on December 7 as a mark of honour to the martyrs and brave soldiers of Indian armed forces.

Administrator launches Smart Parking app

Chandigarh, December 5:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today launched Smart parking app at the Punjab Raj Bhawan, here in the today evening. The app namely "Arya Smart Parking Chandigarh" can be downloaded through android as well IOS mobile phones, which will help the commuters to locate their parking lot and can book their parking as per their requirement easily.
          During the programme, the Administrator said that with the launch of this app the struggle to find parking in the parking lots throughout city will end. Recently, commuter car parkings fill up rapidly with the increased demand, forcing motorists to search for alternative parkings in other locations or drive all the way into the city for work. This increased congestion and commuter angst, as more and more commuters get up trying to use public parking but cannot get their suitable locations.
          He said that new smart parking technologies enables commuters to see current car parking information, from rates, restrictions, hours of operation and most importantly, vacancies in real-time. They would then be able to see and select under utilized car parkings near their work places or a viable local alternative before they even leave the house. They could even pre book and pay for the spot through the app there and ensuring they got a convenient parking space for their commute.

With a vision of implementing Smart parking concept, the  Arya toll Infra Ltd. has started the project with the vision of digital & smart city and women empowerment as in starting we employed almost 40% of female staff with a new concept as we have never seen female parking attendants managing the parking sites. With the help of NULM cell, MCC, several training session were conducted for staff members making them confident enough to tackle all the problems related to operations and management. Chandigarh roads set to throb with more than 200 bikers taking off on 'Bravehearts Ride'

Chandigarh, December 2

`Riding for the Military’, over 200 bikers will set Chandigarh’s roads on fire on Sunday as they rev up the momentum for the forthcoming Military Literature Festival (MLF) with the `Bravehearts Ride’.

            The enthralling spectacle can be viewed by the general public all along the route of the ride, beginning from the War Memorial (Bougainvillea Garden, Sector 3), at 11 a.m.

            The pulsating, action-packed event will see the bikers riding heavy bikes, including Harley Davidson, Triumph, Indian Chief, Ducati, Benelli and Royal Enfield, traverse the over 41 km rally route. Organised by Punjab Government, Chandigarh Administration and Western Command, the event will commence with a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 10.30 a.m. in honour of the fallen soldiers.

            After a brief media interaction, the rally be flagged off for Chandimandir Cantt, through the roads of Chandigarh, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Zirakpur and Panchkula, culminating at the Khetarpal Officers Institute at around 12 noon. (Please find attached pdf file for complete route map.)

            The event, coming close on the heels of the Military Parleys which set the mood for India’s first Military Literature Festival (December 7-9, Lake Club), has been envisaged as an ode to the defence services and war veterans. CM PUNJAB TO INAUGURATE PITEX-2017 ON DECEMBER 7TH AT AMRITSAR UNDER AEGIS OF PHD CHAMBER

CHANDIGARH: PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be organizing the 12th Edition of North India’s largest trade expo known as PITEX-2017 – A 5-day mega event-cum-exhibition, beginning here on 7th of December and to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of State, Capt. Amarinder Singh,  in which key functionaries of Punjab’s bureaucracy be present along with their counterpart luminaries in industry from across the country including those of North India in particular.

The event-cum-exhibition is being supported by the Government of Punjab in which there will be participation from larger number of MSMEs from all over India along with industry associations from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, said the President of the PHD Chamber, Mr. Anil Khaitan in a statement issued here.

It is for the information of general public/residents of Chandigarh that the process for affixing of High Security Registration Plates on new vehicles (Private and Commercial) registering in UT, Chandigarh will start from 1st December 2017 at four notified locations i.e. the offices of R&LA, Sector-17, SDM(S), Sector-42, SDM (E), Industrial Area, Phase-I, Chandigarh, office of State Transport Authority, Sector 18, Chandigarh.

The owners of the vehicle getting their vehicles registered w.e.f. 01.12.2017 shall apply for affixation of HSRP at their respective offices on the basis of receipt of Road Tax. In case, if, the owners of the vehicle of above series do not have affixed HSRP plates on their vehicles, the Traffic Police, UT, Chandigarh will be asked to initiate the process for challaning of their vehicle. The affixation of previous registered series will be taken up shortly.

Our late President Dr. Abdul Kalam has written about India 2020 many years ago. Unfortunately, we have not realised his dreams and have not met the millennium goals. The Conference looks at next 13 years, the challenges and opportunities India would face in the coming years in a fast changing world, the scholars will cast their eye into the future and share their insight what can be achieved by India and what policies and paths we should pursue to achieve the desired objective.
