Bharti Airtel organized Shimla Airtel Half Marathon to mark the “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” in association with Himachal police. With the Theme  ‘Drug free Himachal’, and Motto  ‘No Excuse for Drug Abuse’, the Airtel Marathon consisted of three parts — Half Marathon (21.5 km), Mini Marathon (10 km) and Dream Run (3 km)

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle to be immortalized at Madame Tussauds New Delhi

Ambassador of France to India inaugurates Michelin India Research and Development Laboratory in Manesar, Haryana

This new state-of-the-art facility expands Michelin India’s research and innovation capacity and strengthens its commitment to the mobility industry in the region.

Shooting of 'Sachin - The Ultimate Winner' begins

Chandigarh: June 7 JRS Productions' film 'Sachin - The Ultimate Winner' is an inspirational, emotional film about the untold courage and strength of a young Indian cricketer.

After the immense success of his first Hindi movie 'Akkad-Bakkad Bam Be Bo', it is for the first time that writer-producer-director Dweep Raj Kochhar is coming up with a sports-oriented movie that will encourage kids to be more active.  'Sachin - The Ultimate Winner' is made under the banner of  JSR Productions Pvt. Ltd

The movie Sachin- The Ultimate Winner  resembles Yuvraj's life, the same way that Yuvraj battled with cancer,the protagonist in movie too braves his struggle with coma and paralysis and emerges victorious in the field battling all odds.

The film's author-producer-director is Dweep Raj Kochhar. This film is based on a true story whose main character, Sachin, despite going through a terrible accident, return to the cricket ground and wins the match with the support and inspiration of his Mentor/Coach and close-associates. It’s a proud thing for Chandigarh that 22 kids from the city will be participating in the film’s shooting.

The film calls the attention of the country towards the burning issues and current needs of the society. 'Sachin - The Ultimate Winner' is the touching story of a cricketer, who shows how children are so good-hearted and honest. It’s special that TV serial "Raja and Rancho"’s famed actor Dr. Ved Thapar plays a key role of Cricket Coach  in the film. He states that through the powerful medium of cinema, their real aim is to create a desire to never lose in children and never get tired so that they become determined in their own right; Ved strongly believes that unshakable will-power and effort never fail.

Located in Chandigarh's bustling Sector 28 market, which is known for its numerous shops selling car accessories and vehicle repair outlets, Pal Dhaba has acquired the reputation of being the market leader among all such eateries that serve the palate of Chandigarh residents and even those coming from neighbouring states.

The dhaba is equally popular during the day time, even though one has to wait to get a table in the evening. Spread over two showrooms and two booths, the dhaba can accommodate nearly 125 people at any given point in time.

"The food here is authentic and one does not really mind the extra calories from the oil- and ghee-rich dishes. The taste is a killer, especially with non-vegetarian dishes. The quick service ensures that you are not with an empty stomach for too long," Rajeshwar Sharma, a resident of nearby Zirakpur town, told Journalists present.

The popularity of Pal Dhaba can be gauged from the fact that Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper decided to eat food here with his entourage and local guests in November 2012 after he was told about the food by the then Canadian Consul General in Chandigarh, Scot Slessor, himself a great lover of Punjabi dhaba food.

It is another matter that the local administration and police allegedly scuttled Harper's visit to Pal Dhaba on "security grounds" but allowed him to have food at another dhaba 200 metres away. Since the VVIP visit plan to Pal Dhaba was made earlier, its owners had got the entire place renovated and even brought in new cutlery.

While most of the seating is inside, in the evenings the dhaba spreads out tables and chairs on the pavement outside.

"It feels great to eat food out in the open, right under the stars. The place always looks full. Even though some people might find the food spicy, it is worth the risk," Parminder Singh, a resident of Patiala who visits the dhaba every time he comes to Chandigarh, told reporters.

The walls of the dhaba are adorned with photographs of film stars and other celebrities who have eaten there. Numerous write-ups in leading publications too hold a place of pride on the walls.

Even though Chandigarh has other popular dhabas and eating joints, Pal Dhaba certainly is way ahead of all competition.

ASSOCHAM and Videocon Gear Up for GST, launch Awareness Drive for consumer electronic traders


Chandigarh, 01 June, 2017: In a view to generate awareness and educate retail partners around GST implications, ASSOCHAM and the leading Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances Company, Videocon, organized the first-of-its-kind GST Summit today for Traders. The daylong ASSOCHAM VIDEOCON GST Summit for traders witnessed deep discussions around GST, addressing retailers’ queries, and offering them a clearer understanding of the GST concept. First Jeep® Compass Rolls Off Assembly Line in Ranjangaon, India

Chandigarh ,June 1,2017:Jeep® Compass, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) India’s first locally-produced sport-utility vehicle (SUV), officially rolled off the assembly line today at the company’s Ranjangaon plant.

Senior government officials and company leaders attended the roll-off ceremony, including Shri DevendraFadnavis, Honourable Chief Minister, Government of Maharashtra; Paul Alcala, FCA’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the APAC region, non-China; Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director of FCA India; Gurpratap Boparai, CEO of FIAPL and Shri Girish Bapat, Guardian Minister of Pune.
 “The establishment of manufacturing operations and start of production of the Jeep Compass is an important milestone for our journey in India,” said Paul Alcala. “The Compass will be the first ‘Made in India’ Jeep vehicle, and we are appreciative of the Government’s efforts to make India a desirable manufacturing destination for multi-national organizations, such as ours. With the start of production and an investment of US$280 million in the Jeep Compass localization, we are reaffirming our commitment to Indian consumers and our long-term presence in the country.”
Like other FCA facilities around the world, the Ranjangaon plant is implementing World Class Manufacturing (WCM), a structured and rigorous production system that encompasses all plant processes. It focuses on eliminating waste, increasing productivity and improving quality and safety in a systematic and organized way. Plant employees are engaged to provide and implement suggestions on how to improve their jobs and their facilities, promoting a strong sense of ownership. Using a common production language, best practices and know-how can be exchanged and shared across the Company’s global manufacturing footprint, thus accelerating the rate of improvement at all facilities.

We are immensely proud that Indian customers can soon own a locally-made Jeep SUV that is built to the highest quality standards.”
The Jeep Compass will be in full production in July and vehicles are expected to arrive in dealerships across India during the third quarter of 2017 in three variants: Sport, Longitude and Limited. 
Locally, the Compass will come equipped with various combinations of diesel and petrol engines paired with manual and automatic transmissions, offering customers over 50 trim configurations and value packages.
By the end of 2017, the Jeep brand’s portfolio in India will consist of three new models. The locally-produced Jeep Compass will join the iconic Jeep Wrangler and the world’s most awarded SUV, the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Shipping for RHD markets outside India will start in the last quarter of 2017.
